Mangrove Forest in Curaçao badly damaged by Corendon Hotel.

By Curaçao Nature Conservation

The Rif mangrove area has been severely damaged and trashed by Corendon. Not far from the Corendon hotel construction site, mangroves have been removed, construction rubble have been dumped and covered up with regular soil at an attempt to cover up.

Apart from the fact that no nuisance permit has been issued for this, this is a violation of the government’s plans to convert the mangrove area into a mangrove city park. Corendon has already admitted that it has committed the violation.

Will the government have the courage to fine them and order them to clear the rubble?

Schande! Schande! Hoe komt dat nou toch? Te weinig toezicht? Beboeten die handel of anders geen hotel!
