Curaçao students come together to fight climate change

Curaçao students come together to fight climate change.

By CURACAO NATURE CONSERVATION

Students from different schools in Curaçao want to come together to demonstrate for climate change and climate rights in Curaçao, at the Parlamento di Korsou. Thousands of people around the world, mostly students, are protesting against the government. Their goal is to ensure that something is done against climate change with the use of legislation. This started with the 15-year-old Greta Thunberg from Sweden. What used to be a very lonely strike every Friday has changed to thousands of people around the world who now stand behind her with climate change protests and demonstrations.

“Students will demonstrate at Parlamento di Kòrsou, from 8 to 12, on Friday, October 4, 2019,”

The basic principles of climate change is that it was created by the increase in greenhouse gases, the gases that absorb more heat in our atmosphere. One of the strongest most common greenhouse gases is carbon dioxide that is produced through the use / burning of fossil fuels, which is a human activity. There is more carbon dioxide in our atmosphere than ever before in human history.

Our winters and summers are getting hotter, the sea level is rising, and the populations in the wild are falling. This is how we see the effect that climate change has on our earth and will ultimately have on us. Students therefore want to demonstrate at Parlamento di Korsou, from 8 to 12, on Friday, October 4, 2019, with the aim of making the Curaçao governor, and the Curaçao people aware of this problem, and making a change.

Everyone is also welcome and very encouraged to participate.
